I wonder if AMD will do anything regarding VII pricing, as $699 is clearly not viable against the 2080 Super later this month. $599 would be more suitable, but maybe they'll go for $649 because of the 16GB of memory.
The Radeon VII has 16GB of HBM2 and is built on an expensive process. I doubt they can cut the price much. They never intended it to be a high volume part. It will probably sell as a poor man's version of NVIDIA's Titan. The fact that they are selling the Radeon VII at all means that their Radeon Instinct MI50 isn't in much demand.
I reckon they’ll keep the price on the VII where it is.
While it’s a card that can’t compete with Nvidia’s cards on neither performance nor price whereas gaming is concerned, it still has the edge in compute.
I reckon most of the folks who get one, need it for compute performance and don’t want to spend thousands of dollars for a Quadro or Pro AMD card.

They should fade them out. Big Navi is coming in half a year and they are no more making sense price wise.
