This morning HTC and Verizon announced the Droid Incredible 2 (aka Incredible S) will be up for sale starting on April 28, this Thursday, for $200 with a 2-year contract. Internally the Droid Incredible 2 uses the same Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon SoC we've seen in other recent releases, including the HTC Thunderbolt. The 8655 combines a single Scorpion core running at 1GHz with an Adreno 205 GPU, all built on a 45nm process. The SoC has 768MB of LPDDR2 DRAM on-package.

The Incredible 2 is a world phone, hence the SIM slot underneath the 1450mAh battery:

We're working on our full review of the phone now but performance is pretty predictable given this isn't the first time we've seen a 1GHz Scorpion and an Adreno 205:

GLBenchmark 2.0 - Egypt

Screen size has increased since the original Incredible, we're now up to 4-inches on the 480 x 800 Super LCD panel. Viewing angles are great as are peak brightness, black levels and contrast:

Outdoor usability appears to be an issue despite the move away from AMOLED, the display is just very reflective.

The Droid Incredible 2 comes equipped with two cameras: 8MP rear facing and 1.3MP front facing. I've included a sample shot below:

We're running battery life tests now, expect to see our review next week!

After using a friend's 4.3" Android phone, the iPhone's puny 3.5" screen feels so 2007. I hope a good Windows 7 phone comes out on AT&T with a large screen so I can finally dump my 3gs.

The Atrix has a 4 in display at 960x540.
The iPhone 4 has a 3.5 in display at 960x640.

That's a much higher PPI for the iPhone. The question remains why isn't there even a single Android phone that competes in this one area? Seems odd considering the iPhone is almost a year old and new Android phones come out just about every week.

There are other equally, if not more important attributes to a display besides resolution. I'd rather screens got quicker response times, lower reflectivity, more natural colors, and deeper blacks before improving on the resolutions we see today.

This is why I don't like the term "Retina Display", it only addresses one attribute.

I see the year old iphone and year old ipad on the list of competitors. Can we see this years model on the list too or was there a problem getting the test results?

wow never mind. went and checked the scores and noticed that even the scores you have for the iphone 4 are with the older system version. Those numbers aren't even close to what the currently shipping iphone 4 gets with 4.3. I guess you just grabbed any random numbers you could find and threw them in that graphic.

I hope for the actual review we get current numbers that are actually valid in todays market and not just this FUD.

Archos is releasing all new hardware this summer. PLEASE for the love of Tech get some reviews going on that stuff. I have a Gen 6 Archos 5 and I LOVE it. 200 bucks for a 4.8" screen with 16GB memory installed with a 32GB SD card in it? Can't beat that. Highly moddable with a massive community out there. Full Android support with some really nice Archos specific apps/features installed. The mp3 player for instance is AMAZING! Get on that!

Archos is actually making stuff that can be modified now? My Archos 5 IMT is famous for being locked

Be fair Anandtech. The SunSpider scores on this Incredible 2 are excellent (some of the best i've seen) but at least test the iOS devices with 4.3.x. The new version of Safari has Nitro built-in and my 2 year old iPhone 3GS gets 5300ms, I would imagine the iPhone 4 and iPad is around 4,000ms.

The benchmarks are better than I expected... Especially SunSpider, with the exception of 3D but I don't play games on my phone anyway (other than beating Final Fantasy 1 recently). Pretty sure this is my next phone, my 3GS is hitting 2 years old.
