Any news on performance updates regarding mining of ethereum? I am still on the catalyst drivers because the mining performance is very low for these new crimson drivers.

I'm guessing there will be no love for pre-GCN anymore.
Hope Zen ends up being a good CPU/APU so I can renew my aging APU.

The pre-GCN AMD cards were officially end-of-lifed last year with the catalyst 15.6/7 being the final driver.

It's one of the reason i replaced my old 6950 card...

I though that it was set to "lower amount of updates" not end of life. Just read the text on AMD's driver download page and... you're 100% right: no new updates for pre-GCN :-(

"Accordingly, despite the deceptive Radeon Software version number, this release contains a relatively large number of performance improvements nad bug fixes."

Editorial Note: should be "...performance improvements and bug fixes."

Would be interesting to know if the ROTR improvements are in DX11, DX12, or both.

"This includes an issue where Vukan information in Radeon Settings could display an incorrect version number, and a bug where Radeon Wattman could retain settings of an overclock even after it had failed."

Editorial note: should be "...where Vulkan information..." missing an L there in Vulkan

    Thanks!

Is the RX 480 review coming soon? And GTX 1060
  • powerarmour - Sunday, July 31, 2016 - link

Depends on how many Phones and SSD's get delivered first I guess?
  • Alexvrb - Sunday, July 31, 2016 - link

Yes because every staff member reviews any and all pieces of technology. We've been over this SO MANY TIMES... the number of phone, SSD, etc reviews doesn't impact the graphics card deep dive reviews. If you want quick and dirty reviews there's plenty of them on the net. They draw mixed conclusions depending on test suite but both cards are excellent buys, especially compared to last-gen cards in this price range.

Okay then, so as a reader of this site for 10+ years, what 'is' currently impacting the graphics card reviews?, please enlighten me as to which straws I should clutch at.

    Deceptive version numbering?

    It's simply Year.Month.sequential
